Early life:

Born and brought up in a conservate Tamil family in Madras (Chennai). Father worked at the State Bank of Hyderabad. Her mother encouraged her to succeed in life.

Education:

Schooling in Holy Angels Anglo Indian School, Madras. Holds bachelor’s degree in Physics, Chemistry and Maths from MCC. Post Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Calcutta. Masters degree from US.

Career:

Worked with Johnson & Johnson for 2 years and a firm named Mettur Beardsell in India. To fund her studies in US she also worked as a receptionist. Got rejected in her first interview.

Career growth:

Started working at Boston Consulting Group. Joins Motorola as the VicePresident and Director of Corporate Strategy & Planning. Then joins Asea Brown Boveri’s (a Zurich-based industrial company) US business.

Achievements:

Joins Pepsi Co. in the year 1994. Becomes the CFO and President of Pepsi Co in 2001, and gets inducted in the Board of Directors. Receives Padma Bhushan in the year 2007. Forbes magazine ranks Nooyi on the lists of ‘The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.

Family & Personal life:

IndraNooyi lives in Greenwich, Connecticut, USA, with her family. She is married to Raj K. Nooyi and has two daughters. One of her daughters is attending her alma mater, Yale Business School.
