The rightly conceived and effectively executed, ‘Smile Please’ is the flagship CSR programmes of Muthoot Pappachan Foundation (MPF) that kick-started the cleft-lip surgical mission. Till date, Muthoot Pappachan Group has carried 1119 cleft-lip surgeries across India. The Foundation has partnered with ‘Mission Smile India’, a medical charity of experts in providing comprehensive cleft-lip surgeries. “In phase 1, we have covered 9 states and did 1119 surgeries in the country, providing comprehensive care. In a later phase, we will deal with issues like malnutrition, which we come across among during our surgery screening process. We are committed to making India cleft free and we will continue bringing in many more smiles, wherever we are present,” said Thomas John Muthoot, Chairman & Managing Director, Muthoot Pappachan Group.

Employees of Muthoot Pappachan Group are also actively involved in spreading awareness among the people and identifying cleft cases. “We are happy that we could be a reason behind the smiles of many kids across India. Recently, we visited Baroda, Gujarat and came across a one and half-year-old girl, Nirmala. The little one was in need of surgery and under normal circumstances her family would never be able to afford the same. Ensuring that we bring small change in the lives of these little ones is what we work towards.” said DrPrasanthkumarNellickal.

‘Smile Please’ initiative of Muthoot Pappachan Foundation was designed as a comprehensive package that includes parent counseling, consultation of medical specialists like oral maxillofacial surgeons, plastic surgeons, anesthesiologist, pediatricians, speech therapists, psychologists etc.
