In a welcoming move by the government, one can now correct errors in Aadhaar and PAN card details online through the e-filing website.

Importance of the Aadhaar card has been growing day by day; from linking Aadhaar to a list of subsidies and schemes, to midday meal, to recently making it mandatory for filing income tax returns and applying for a PAN card.
Privacy concerns regarding Aadhaar has been on the rise and adding to that the amendment to the Finance Act 2017-18 has made it mandatory for the taxpayers to link their PAN card to their 12 digit Aadhaar number for filing their returns.
In such a scenario, it is a welcoming move on part of the government for easing the procedure to correct the errors in the Aadhaar and PAN card details. People can now access two different hyperlinks on the e- filing website – incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, for updating changes in existing PAN data or application of new PAN card, and for updating Aadhaar details. In case of Aadhaar, you need to log into the “Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal” and then upload scanned documents as proof for the data update request.
