With Mother’s day rolling in, all major companies have decided to pay their tribute to mothers (and mothers to be) and tug at the emotions of thousands by releasing new advertisements focusing on the upcoming holiday. Mother’s day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year and this year it is to be celebrated on May 14th. The millennials are sure to cook up breakfasts, book reservations at spa’s and movies for their mom’s and the greeting card, flower, candy industry has made it into yet another money making holiday for them. But the fact remains that it is important for everyone to take a moment to appreciate our mothers who we have taken for granted most of the time. We’ve decided to make a compilation of some of these Mother’s day special advertising campaigns that seeks to make a difference and not just blindly promote their products.

Nivea’s advertising campaign has the hashtag #JustLikeMaa and through this advertisement they are trying to show how there are so people who are just like our mothers and they do this by showing a kid who shows her affection to the caretaker ‘didi’ before she is adopted by her new family.

Hyundai in continuation of their long term Road Safety CSR campaigns wants to show their support to the tough love of Mothers who don’t allow underage driving. “Mothers play a crucial role in encouraging responsible behaviour and inculcating the right values in children. To celebrate and Salute the spirit of their courage for being a tough mother, we dedicate this inspiring #ToughLove film to all the Mothers on this Mother’s Day,” said Anand, Sr. GM & Group Head – Marketing.

Prega News stepping away from their usual advertising line of giving the “good news” to mothers-to- be, tried to focus on the problems faced by these mothers-to- be in corporate offices. Their campaign #YourSecondHome is trying to urge people to bring about little changes in workplaces to make it comfortable for these pregnant women and make them feel at home in their offices. “More and more women these days work deep into their pregnancy and Indian workplaces are not very sensitive to people with special needs as it lacks the basic infrastructure and amenities. The idea behind picking up this subject was also to showcase a progressive modern face for the brand. An office is somewhere she spends most of her waking hours and thereby it is imperative for her to be comfortable there first”; added Dasgupta, Sr. VP, ADK.

Godrej Expert’s ad sends the message to make Mother’s day special for not just your biological mother, but All mothers. And in their advertisement they show a daughter-in- law gifting her mother-in- law a basket full of gifts showing us how this mother-daughter bond is equally strong and important.

Advertisements do have a profound effect on the people watching them in terms of bringing about a social change and revolutionising ideas about certain things. So it is indeed a positive thing that these advertisements have tried to take a new approach to celebrate mothers and the things they do and the things they have to go through.
