5 CEOs clad in scuba diving gears went under water for a 20 minute conference in Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram. Literal boundaries were being broken with regard to the scope of what could possibly be done at business meetings and conferences as well as where they could be held. Proof enough that the depths of the ocean isn’t the limit.

Keeping this in mind, we decided to take a brief look at some ‘roads not taken’ in Kerala, to help you plan your next business meeting and/or conference.

Any part North of Kerala

Kannur is famous for its weaving industry and cashew trade. It is not a very touristy location at all, which makes it a perfect addition to our list. Beaches, temple festivals, Theyyams and of course architectural remains from the colonial era. A little further north, Kasargod comes with a 293m long coastline and a rich historical heritage. It houses Bekal fort, the largest fort in Kerala. It’s an architectural paradise with exquisite designs at Malik Deenar Juma Masjid, Madhur Mahaganapthy Temple and so on. Maybe you could sign the next best deal of your company in the presence of Theyyam or Yakshagana which are quite popular here.

In the midst of nature

Wayanad boasts of amazing forests and wildlife. The quiet of this hill station is absolutely peaceful and charming. The greenery and the plantations all around add on to the scenic beauty. Famous for its rich tribal heritage, Edakal caves is a must visit here in Wayanad, for the historian as well as the adventure junkie. Surrounded by the pristine lakes, air and greenery, you could only make the best decisions for your company.

Nothing beats the beach

Thiruvananthapuram has the best beaches in the state, with Kovalam and Varkala topping the list. You would not find a more picture perfect location for your business conference than in Varkala, one of the most photographed beaches in the state. The 2000 year old temple, rocky coastline all add to the beauty of the beach. And the sands of Kovalam are said to be unforgettable. Nothing like ‘widening your horizons’ while actually witnessing the stretching horizon in front of you.
