Major e-commerce platforms are offering heavy discounts keeping in mind the incoming GST roll out

Flipkart and Amazon India are offering upto 80% discounts on apparels and furniture, thanks to the incoming GST changes. As people are trying to figure out the probable impact of GST on their businesses, e-commerce platforms are trying to clear the remainder of their stocks online at extremely low prices.
According to the GST rates, ready made garments priced over Rs. 1000 will be taxed at 12% and those below at 5%. Top brands are available on these websites with discounts ranging from 30-80%. This comes after the recent sale events that were already held by Amazon and Flipkart in May 2017.
These discounts and deals are not just restricted to fashion. Home furnishing, interior design are also being sold with heavy discounts. This comes with the GST tax rate of wooden furniture going upto 28% from the average VAT rate of 5-6% which will obviously bring up the price of wooden furniture soon as well.
Unlike the summer sales where electronics, smartphones and appliances were key sellers, this discount sale is mainly driven by the nearing GST roll out and focuses mainly on fashion and furniture.
