Early Life
Jeff Bezos was born in New Mexico to teenage mother Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen, and his biological father, Ted Jorgensen. He displayed a remarkable mechanical talent from an early age.When he was a teenager he developed an electric alarm. He developed a love for computers at very early age.
Education
He moved to Miami with his family as a teenager. During his high school, Jeff started his first business -The Dream Institute, an educational summer camp for lower grade students. Bezos pursued his interest in computers at Princeton University, where he graduated in 1986 with a degree in computer science and electrical engineering.
Career
After graduation, he found work at several firms on Wall Street, including Fitel, Bankers Trust and the investment firm D.E. Shaw. It was there he met his wife, Mackenzie, and became the company’s youngest vice president in 1990.
Career Growth
He realizes internet grew 2,300% a year and comes up with an idea for “the everything store.” He Quits job and moves to Seattle. After doing a lot of market research, Jeff launches Amazon in 1995 and raises $1M from angel investors and family. In 1997, he takes Amazon public.
Achievements
He is now the founder of Blue Origin-a rocket company and the company has started building rockets that can land vertically. He launched Kindle e-Reader. He buys “The Washington Post for $250 million. Successfully lands a rocket back from space to launch pad in 2015.
