Tigerair now becomes ‘Scoot’; begins Kochi operations under new name

Nine months post the announcement of Singapore airlines’s decision to merge their budget carriers Scoot and Tigerair into a single brand, the merger has finally come through. The two brands will now be known under the enhanced ‘Scoot’ brand.

“The enhanced Scoot that we are introducing today is spunky and sassy and promises to create more travel opportunities for our guests,” said Scoot CEO Mr. Lee Lik Hsin. Beyond new destinations, Scoot’s crew members or Scootees as they are also known will also sport new uniforms while retaining Scoot’s signature black and yellow colour combination. “The current Tigerair fleet will be progressively repainted and the complete change is targeted to be completed by mid-2018,” said Mr. Bharath Mahadevan, Scoot Country Head, India.

Speaking during the event, Mr Mahadevan, Scoot Country Head, India said, “Scoot was very well received after the launch of our first three destinations in India last year, the response was remarkable. We hope to offer a safe commute to the travellers from Bengaluru, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Lucknow and Hyderabad.

All previous Tigerair flights will now be operated under the ‘Scoot brand’ and under the TR flight designator code. Following the merger, Scoot airlines adds flights to five new destinations which include Harbin (Heilongjiang, China), Honolulu(Hawaii, US), Kuantan(Malaysia), Kuching (Malaysia) and Palembang (South Sumatra, Indonesia).

With the new slogan Escape the Ordinary, the Scoot brand will offer one-way promotional fares from Kochi at Rs 4,999 to Singapore, Rs 9,799 to Hong Kong and Rs 11,799 to Melbourne/Sydney.

Scoot has also announced 10% discounts through promotional codes for a booking period from 27 July to 6 Aug 2017.
